daly city neighborhood buried by a mud slide. they are trying to shore up the hillside before the rain hits. cbs 5 reporter joe vazquez with how exactly they are doing that. joe. >> reporter: hey, allen. from this perspective you can see the neighborhood here and then way up on the hillside you can see that huge crater where all that water came spewing out of yesterday. it cuts right to left and it barely missed the homes here. now there's another concern, a storm is in the forecast. stacking hay and clearing storm drains, two tasks that have daly city crews hard at work today. the hay is being used to contain the substantial mud still covering nearby hillside park. they will clean that mud up later because right now, they are focused on what they call weatherization making sure the upcoming rainstorms aren't going to do more damage to the neighborhood. it turns out yesterday's mud slide swamped all the storm drains so now workers are having to find them and then dig them out so they can help divert any rain. >> so we're going to take our remote control tv camera to go into the pi

cleanup and preparations are in full-swing tonight in daly city after a mountain of mud buried part of the neighborhood there early tuesday. it happened when a pipe burst and washed a huge chunk of hillside onto a city street. with rain in the forecast, residents are using bails of hey and bulldozers to shore up the hill. >> we're making sure the work we've done is doing its job to protect the residents and the neighborhood, not causing any adverse mud flows or what have you. >> i think right now, it's not stabilized because of the sink hole. >> crews spent much of the day digging a trench. they hope that will divert any runoff from the coming rain. >>> this is not the first time this neighborhood has been hit by a mudslide. jr stone was in daly city. >> my thought was 12 years ago. but this is scary . >> reporter: she lives around 100 feet from hillside park. she's worried because this is not the first time that there have been problems here. in fact, tonight we have the video to prove it. 12 years ago, there was another mudslide at which time we talked with her father who has sinc
